Photography

I have just gotten back in to photography. I was able to take a 35mm class in junior high school for a semester and fell in love with doing black and white photography. Then after that I was unable to buy a camera so the interest kind of left me. Now in the era of digital I was able to borrow a friends Canon point and shoot camera for my trip to Berlin, Germany in 2004 and fell back in love with wanting to take photos.

Then last year 2005 at our company breakup party I was lucky enough to win a Canon PowerShot A400 3.2 Megapixel point and shoot camera. It is just a baisc camera, but has served me quite well in the year that I have owned it. I take it everywhere with me while I am working so I can capture the lovely scenery that I see, or the lack there of ;).

This year 2006 I was throwing around the idea of buying a Digital SLR camera (dSLR) but thought they were quite expensive. After staring at the cameras in Future Shop and Best Buy numerous times for a few months I finally made the impulse buy to get one. Well not really impulse as at that point in time I decided I would go with my mom to Trinidad for holidays and a 3.2MP P&S would not do me.

So what did I end up with? A Canon Digital RebelXT 8MP dSLR camera, with the kit lens and a 2GB noname brand CF card. Why Canon? It is what I have been using all my digital photography life and I feel the most comfortable with them.

I was lucky the camera body was not what the sales guy had said, I was expecting to get the silver and black body and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found the all black body!.

Lenses

As already mentioned I got the RebelXT kit so it came with a lens, it is an 18-55mm f3.5/f5.6 EOS EF-S mount which is pictuerd above.

Within the same week I had purchased from Best Buy a Sigma 55-200mm f4/f5.6 lens. I have not used it a whole lot but find it is a nice little lense. Although I do need a tripod to use it as I am too shaky trying to hand hold at anything over 60mm in bright daylight lol. The picture below is of the lens and the lens hood that came with it. If you are interested in a picture without the hood just let me know and I will see what I can do!

So far the prize of my whole lense collection is my Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5/4.5 USM Ultra Wide Angle lens. This thing is just phenomenal when taking wide expansive pictures! And so far I have found the image quality to be excellent with it. Then again I have not done anything other than take pictures with it, so I am not pixel peeping or post processing these after taking (yet anyways will do soon :)). The picture below is of the lens and the lens hood that came with it. If you are interested in a picture without the hood just let me know and I will see what I can do!
